After a life of love and quiet grace, Carol Faye Moen, 82, of Bottineau, ND has passed.
Some stories deserve to be told slowly. This is one of them.
Carol entered this world in 1943 — the start of a journey that would span 83 years.
Carol saw decades come and go, and held the lessons of each.
On May 4, 2026, Carol (Brandt) Moen (82) of Hot Springs, SD, heard the loving voice of God, "Carol, my child, it's time to come home." Her spirit soared into the Heavens where she is reunited with family members that have passed on before her. There is much rejoicing in the place of eternal light because one who loves God has come home.Carol was born September 7, 1943, in Bottineau, ND, to Herman and Hulda (Gienger) Brandt. She graduated from Upham High School, then went on to Forestry School in Bottineau. She was married to Lyle Moen in 1964 and had 3 children (Cheryl Moen, Stewart Moen, and Brenda (Moen) Thomas. They made their home around Knox, ND where they ran a farm until 1977. They moved to Hot Springs, SD in 1978 where she had multiple jobs (accountant at Southern Hills Appliance, co-owner of Home Appliance Center, server, bakery, prep-cook at the State Home, and had her own house cleaning business). She loved taking care of all her flower beds and plants that she grew at her house. Her pride and joy were her children, yard and flowers/plants, her dogs and cats, and square dancing.She was preceded in death by her father, Herman Brandt; mother, Hulda Brandt, brother, Dayton Brandt; brother, Clayton Brandt and daughter Cheryl Moen.Carol is survived by her children, Stewart Moen of Maryville, TN and Brenda (Terry) Thomas of Hot Springs, SD; multiple step grandchildren; step great grandchildren; step nephews; step nieces and many extended loving family members and friends.Hot Springs, SD services:Visitation will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 7, 2026, at Chamberlain McColley's Funeral Home followed by funeral service at 3:00 p.m.Bottineau, ND services:Visitation will be held 9:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau, ND followed by funeral service at 10:00 a.m. Committal service following at Upham Cemetery.
