It is with sorrow and gratitude that we mark the passing of Darnesha Spence-Poindexter of Saginaw, MI — sorrow at the loss, gratitude for the life.

Mrs. Darnesha Spence-Poindexter departed this life on April 22, 2026. She was born on November 19, 1993, in Dallas, Texas, to Parris Spence and Alesa Dugan.Darnesha attended Saginaw Public Schools and graduated from Saginaw High School Class of 2011. After graduation, she attended Tyler College, where she studied criminology. Darnesha was a stay-at-home mom. She used all her free time to be an excellent wife, mother, and homeschool teacher to her wonderful four children! When she was not doing that, she was always helping her family and friends!In addition to her loving memories, Darnesha is survived by her husband, Damon Poindexter; her four children, Amara E. Spence-Reeves, Damon Poindexter Jr., Dar’Nae Aes'Sedai Spence-Poindexter, and A’Kyro A. Spence-Poindexter; her grandmother, Elizabeth Dugan-Rodgers; sister, Andrea Williams of Dallas, Texas; seven brothers, Parris Garnett, Shavar Garnett, all of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Brandon (Adashea) Dugan, Maurice Spence, both of Dallas, Texas, Frederick (Rochelle) Smith Jr. of Marion, Illinois, and Quinlan Spence of Dallas, Texas.Darnesha‘s legacy will forever be remembered by her five nieces and five nephews which she loved so dearly; special aunts and uncles, Joann Martin, Bridgett (Craig) West of Dallas, Texas, Jana Henry, Vickey Tyson, Milfred Jr. (Angelle) Wilson, of Dallas, Texas, and Devon Reed; special cousins, LeAnne (Albert) Fernandez, LaToya Lewis, Demont Thomas, Andre Moore, Jonathan McAfee, Breana McAfee, Joshua Densmore, Andre Wilson, and Jaylen Dugan.Darnesha was preceded in death by her fraternal grandmother Vernice McAfee; brother, K'yro Garnett; maternal grandfather, Robert Williams Jr.; maternal great grandmother, Ruby Lee Peoples; maternal great grandfather, Rudolph Dugan and L.C. Peoples; great uncles, Terry Peoples; and Rudolph Dugan, Jr.; great aunt, Lynette Peoples-Harold; and cousins, Antoine Moore and Shane Peoples.
