David Basaldua, Jr., 50, of Tulia, passed away on Monday, May 4, 2026. A visitation will be held from 1:00 to 6:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 6, 2026 in the Kornerstone Chapel in Tulia.David was born on December 4, 1975 in Tulia, Texas to David Basaldua and Blanca Mata.David was a truly special soul whose heart was filled with gold. Despite the challenges he faced, his joyful spirit shone brightly every day. He had a wonderful way of finding happiness in the little things, often looking around his room with curious eyes and greeting the world with a smile or a gentle laugh. Raised lovingly by his grandmother, who nurtured him with care and fed him eggs three times a day, David was surrounded by warmth and affection. He had simple joys that brought him great pleasure, like his fondness for ice cream and the cherished moments spent watching "The Price is Right" alongside his mother, Blanca. David’s love for his family was evident, and he thrived in their presence. His life was a testament to happiness and resilience, reminding all who knew him that joy could flourish in any circumstance.He is preceded in death by his father, David Basaldua; his niece, Serena Basaldua, his maternal grandparents, Jose and Fidela Mata; his great nephew, Amari Galan and many several uncles, aunts and cousins. He is survived by his mother, Blanca Basaldua of Tulia; his two brothers, Victor Basaldua and wife Raquel Cedillo of Tulia and Gilbert Lee Basaldua of Tulia; three sisters, Dianna Parker and husband Merwyn of Odessa, Lisa Benavidez and husband Michael of Tulia and Terri Brookins and husband Freddie of Tulia; a long life family friend, Juan Guardado and several nieces and nephews.
