It is with sorrow and gratitude that we mark the passing of Donald "Dave" David Middaugh of Kingsley, MI — sorrow at the loss, gratitude for the life.

These pages are a small offering toward a much larger life.

Donald spent his working life as ['Charlie Svec in construction'] — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew him best.

A parent's life is measured, in part, by the lives he shaped.

The Lord called Dave Middaugh home on Sunday, May 3, 2026. His journey here is done. Dave was born June 5, 1948, in Flint, the son of Donald and Goldie (Howell) Middaugh.Dave was a lifelong resident of Buckley. He attended Buckley Community School where he played basketball and baseball. After graduation, he served his country in the United States Air Force for four years during the Vietnam Era.Following his time in the service, Dave worked for Charlie Svec in construction. Dave helped build many homes and businesses in the Traverse City area, leaving his mark on many places. He also drove bus for Buckley School. Dave loved spending time in the woods: cutting down trees, logging, and making lumber that could be used to construct buildings on his own property. He also enjoyed farming and raising cattle.On October 2, 1993, Dave married his best friend, Nancy Walton. Dave's family includes children, Jessaka, David, Thomas, Michael, and their spouses; nine adopted children; many foster children; many grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.Dave was preceded in death by: his parents; his son, Brandon Middaugh; and a son who died at birth, Frank Middaugh.Memorial services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 9, 2026, at the Buckley Community Schools Small Gym, 305 S First Street, Buckley, Michigan 49620. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:30 AM. A luncheon will follow the service at the school.Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, Covell-Kingsley Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.www.beaconfh.com
