It is with sorrow and gratitude that we mark the passing of Glennis Edmond "Glenn" Halcomb Jr. of Waynesburg, KY — sorrow at the loss, gratitude for the life.
These are the contours of a life that meant a great deal to many.
Glennis held deeply to the Catholic faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew him best.
Faith is the language some lives are written in. Glennis's was one.
Glennis Edmond "Glenn" Halcomb, Jr., 71, of Waynesburg, KY, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, May 4, 2026, at 5:00pm. Born on December 28, 1954, in Cincinnati, OH, to the late Patsy Meadows Parker and Glennis Edmond Halcomb, Sr.
Glenn was a U.S. Army Veteran and was a retired Orthodox Monk with the Catholic Church in Hawaii. Glenn enjoyed playing Dominos, computer games, and watching television.
Survivors include his wife, Velma Lee Elliott Halcomb; four sons, Glennis Edmond Halcomb III of Hilo, Hawaii, Brian Lee Sweet of Kings Mountain, KY, Brad Lee Sweet (Melissa) of Crab Orchard, KY, and Shawn Lee Sweet (Billy Banks) of Waynesburg, KY; nine grandchildren, Amelia Halcomb, Taylor Halcomb, Olyvia Sweet Propes (Sean), Summer Sweet (Dustin Harris), Brian Sweet, Jr. (Hailey Gooch), Daniel Sweet, Patrick Earles, Cherokee Earles, and Chianne Caudill; two great-grandchildren, Magnolia Harris and Harrison Wethington.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Georgann Halcomb Rose.
Cremation Rites honored. A Public Graveside Memorial Service, will Full Military Honors, will be held 2:30PM Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Inurnment will follow the service.
