It is with sorrow and gratitude that we mark the passing of Marian Louise McKenzie of Chicora, PA — sorrow at the loss, gratitude for the life.

The chapters of her life were many; these are some of them.

Marian spent her working life as ['Magnetics in East Butler'] — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew her best.

Love, when given fully, leaves its mark on every life it touches.

Marian Louise McKenzie, 94, of Chicora, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, May 5, 2026 at Sugarcreek Rest.

Marian was born in Kaylor, Brady's Bend Township, Armstrong County, on February 12, 1932. She was the daughter of the late John J. and Dorothy E. Shakley Olcus.

She attended Kaylor and Pine Run Schools, and was a 1950 graduate of Karns City Area High School. She was a long time active member of St. Paul's Community Church in Chicora. In her earlier years, she was employed by Magnetics in East Butler, Murphys Store in Butler, and the Busy B Grocery Store in East Brady. Marian enjoyed crocheting and most especially the company of her Shih Tzu, "Grace." Grace was registered as a therapy dog and accompanied Marion while visiting her husband, Clayton, at the Chicora Medical Center.

Marian was married on June 27, 1959 to Clayton Ardell McKenzie. Mr. McKenzie preceded her in death on August 31, 2011.

Marian is survived by a number of nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, and a sister-in-law, Vivian Milheim of Muncie, Indiana.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, David James McKenzie; her brothers, Leo, James and Charles Olcus; her sisters, Doris Griffiths and Ruth DeLaney, as well as a number of sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law.

Friends will be received at St. Paul's Community Church, 2167 Route 268, Chicora, from 1-2 p.m. Friday. A funeral service will follow at the church at 2 p.m. with Rev. Frank Sapp, church pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Mrs. McKenzie's name may be made to St. Paul's Community Church.
