The traditions Mary loved will continue to hold those she loved.
Geraldine "Geri" Skrob, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2026, in Wellington, Florida. Born on August 5, 1929, in Exeter, New Hampshire, she lived a full and vibrant life of 96 years.
Geri dedicated her life to caring for others, working as a registered nurse with unwavering compassion and dedication. Her nurturing spirit extended far beyond her profession into her personal life, where she was known for her warmth, kindness, and generosity.
An avid quilter, Geri found joy and solace in her needlework. Her exquisite quilts, French hand sewing, and needlepoint creations were celebrated in various quilting clubs and earned her numerous awards in competitions. Her artistic talents left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of seeing her work.
Geri spent 30 wonderful years in Hendersonville, North Carolina, a place she truly considered home. After retiring, she moved there and became deeply involved in the community. She was a devoted member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister, bringing communion to the homebound. She also generously gave her time as a volunteer with The Free Clinics in Hendersonville, continuing her lifelong commitment to caring for others. She was also a proud member of the Red Hat Society and remained active in quilting groups throughout her life. While she spent her final time in Florida, her heart always remained in North Carolina.
Geri was preceded in death by her parents, William and Euphemie Tapscott, and her siblings: her brother, Eugene Tapscott, and her sisters, Priscilla Tapscott, Joan Lavertu, Barbara LeBlond, and Helen Mondino.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Joan Barber and her husband Thomas; her cherished grandchildren, Justin Marshall (Carly, his wife) and Ryan Marshall; and her two precious great-grandchildren, Aurora and Lyla Marshall. She also leaves behind two aunts, as well as many cousins and dear friends who will miss her deeply. Geri's legacy of love, creativity, and service will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 14 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 2026, followed by a graveside service at Shepherd Memorial Park.
