With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Michael Rother.

The following words honor a life that mattered to many.

What Michael gave his children, they will give to theirs.

Michael David Rother, age 63, of South Elgin passed away suddenly on Saturday, April 25, 2026.

He was born on March 23, 1963 in Chicago, Illinois to Donald and Marilyn.

Michael is survived by his children, Bailey (Nicholas) and Reece; grandchildren, Kaden and Colson; mother, Marilyn; brothers, William and Jeffrey (Marie); nephews, niece, and many cherished friends.

Michael had a lifelong passion for cars, specifically his 1965 Mustang and his most recent restoration project, a 1963 Thunderbird. He had a gift for working with his hands, combining mechanical skill with an artist's eye, he was able to build and fix just about anything. Michael loved fishing and being on the water, especially with his son. He also greatly treasured the years of companionship and loyalty he shared with his late dog, Milo. Michael looked forward to his retirement on 47 acres of beautiful Tennessee land.
