It is with sorrow and gratitude that we mark the passing of Monsignor Joseph A. Tracy of Lansdale, PA — sorrow at the loss, gratitude for the life.

A life remembered begins, simply, with the telling.

Time has its way of binding people together.

Reverend Monsignor Joseph A. Tracy Parochial Vicar with Senior Priest Status, Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish, Southampton, died on Thursday, April 30, 2026.

Monsignor Tracy was born on May 15, 1959, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is the son of the late Stephen X. Tracy and the late Mary C. Walker.

Monsignor Tracy attended Saint William Grade School, Philadelphia, and Cardinal Dougherty High School, Philadelphia, before entering Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary. He was also a graduate of La Salle University.

Monsignor Tracy was ordained on May 16, 1992, at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Philadelphia by His Eminence Anthony Cardinal Bevilacqua. He was named Chaplain to His Holiness Pope John Paul II on March 16, 2005. Monsignor Tracy served as Parochial Vicar, Saint Andrew Parish, Newtown. He was a student priest, at Academia Alfonsiana in Rome from 1996-2000. Monsignor Tracy served as Deputy Secretary, Secretariat for Catholic Human Services from 2000-2004, and Secretary for Catholic Human Services, from 2004-2008. He served as Pastor, Saint Stanislaus Parish, Lansdale, from 2008-2019. He served as Parochial Vicar with Senior Priest Status, Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish, Southampton, since 2019.

Monsignor Tracy is survived by his brothers, Stephen X. Tracy (Pamela) of Plant City, FL, and Timothy J. Tracy (fiancée Victoria) of Woodbury, NJ; his nephew, Christopher R. Tracy of Nashville, TN; three nieces, Allison M. Tracy of Blue Ridge, GA, Alicia Meyer (Michael) of Clarkson, MD, and Nicolette Burns of Woolrich Township, NJ; and a large extended family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Dorothy Tracy.

The Reception of the Body will be held at Saint Stanislaus Church, Lansdale, on Friday, May 8, 2026, at 8:30 AM followed by a viewing. Most Reverend John J. McIntyre will be the celebrant and homilist of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM.

Interment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
