It is with sorrow and gratitude that we mark the passing of Mr. Robert Cecil "Candy Man" Ross of Jackson, TN — sorrow at the loss, gratitude for the life.

What follows is written with love, by those who knew him best.

Mr. held deeply to the Baptist faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew him best.

The traditions Mr. loved will continue to hold those he loved.

Robert Cecil Ross was born in Henderson, Tennessee on June 9, 1950, to the late Percy Ross and late Odessia Harris Ross. He departed this earthly home on Monday, April 27, 2026, at Chester County Nursing Home.

He attended Chester County Schools then later enlisted into the United States Army where he proudly fought and served our county for many years. No matter where he was, Cecil never met a stranger and always had a funny story to tell. He was known for his smooth talk and dress, jokes, and his genuine love for everyone.

He truly loved his children, grandchildren, sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, and will forever be remembered and admired for his big heart and loving spirit. He professed his hope in Christ at an early life and was a faithful member of J.P. Missionary Baptist Church until his health failed.

He was preceded in death by his father, Percy Ross Sr.; mother, Odessia Harris Ross; sister, Marie Williams; and brother, Dewayne Ross.

He leaves loving and precious memories to his three children; Tywla Lockhart, Carlos (Ebony) Long, and Aaliyah Ginns; four sisters, Doris (Mosie) Gaston, Shirley Croom, Terria Ross, and Glenda Atkins; and two brothers, James (Marilyn) Anderson and Percy (Nancy) Ross, Jr. Cecil leaves a host of relatives and friends to cherish his memories including eight grandchildren, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and several close friends.
