It is with sorrow and gratitude that we mark the passing of Ms. Glenda Jane Massey of Canon, GA — sorrow at the loss, gratitude for the life.
The chapters of her life were many; these are some of them.
Ms. held deeply to the Baptist faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew her best.
The traditions Ms. loved will continue to hold those she loved.
Ms. Glenda Jane Massey, 70, of Canon, GA passed away on Friday, April 24, 2026, at the home of her niece.
Ms. Massey was born in Royston, GA on March 16, 1956, daughter of the late Mary Jane Massey Vickery. She was a supervisor having worked at Overhead Doors for over 30 years. Ms. Massey was a faithful member of Canon Baptist Church where she helped with Vacation Bible School and was part of the Piece Makers Women's Group.
Survivors include her brother, Eddie Vikery of Canon, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Mike Stowe of Hartwell, GA; niece, Misty Rice and her husband, William; great niece and great nephew, Tabatha Rice and Michael Rice; special cousin, Gatha Driver; along with many of her dear friends that were like family to her.
Funeral services for Ms. Massey will be held in the Canon Baptist Church at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, April 27, 2026, with Rev. Paul Creason and Rev. Erik Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Oakview Cemetery in Canon with Rev. Eldon Massey officiating.
The family will receive friends at the Canon Baptist Church from 1:00 p.m. until funeral hour on Monday afternoon. During other times, the family will be at the home of William and Misty Rice.
Flowers are optional; memorials may be made to the Canon Baptist Church Children's Fund.
