It is with sorrow and gratitude that we mark the passing of Rachel Lynn Eklund of Shoreview, MN — sorrow at the loss, gratitude for the life.
These pages are a small offering toward a much larger life.
Rachel spent her working life as ['med tech at the University of Minnesota Hospitals'] and held deeply to the Lutheran faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew her best.
Faith is the language some lives are written in. Rachel's was one.

Rachel Lynn Eklund (Posthuma) of Shoreview, MN passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2026 at Regions Hospital peacefully with her son Eric by her side.
Rachel was born on May 25, 1949 in Le Mars, Iowa to parents Ralph and Margaret (Landman) Posthuma. Rachel attended school in Le Mars and graduated from the Le Mars Community High School in 1967.
Rachel was baptised and confirmed at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars, where she attended Sunday School and services.
Rachel attended the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, earning both a Bachelor of Science Degree with high distinction, as well as a Certification as a Medical Technologist in 1971. She then began her career as a med tech at the University of Minnesota Hospitals, where she served in multiple roles over her 40+ year career.
While a student, Rachel met her future husband, Jerry Eklund. They were married November 11, 1972 in Anoka, MN.
In 1981, Rachel and Jerry were blessed with their only child, Eric.
Rachel was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jerry and her brother Merlyn.
Rachel is survived by her son Eric Eklund, daughter-in-law Laura (Baumbach) Eklund, grandchildren Ellery and Anders Eklund, brothers Harold (Pat) Posthuma and Kerwin (Doris) Posthuma.
Visitation 4-7PM Tuesday May 5th at Washburn-McReavy Shoreview Chapel, 515 Hwy 96 W, Shoreview. Funeral service 11AM, visitation at 10AM Wednesday May 6th at Incarnation Lutheran Church, 4880 Hodgson Road, Shoreview.
