It is with sorrow and gratitude that we mark the passing of Robert Ray Sullard of Lawson, MO — sorrow at the loss, gratitude for the life.
Behind every name is a life, and behind every life are the people who loved it.
Robert held deeply to the Baptist faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew him best.
The traditions Robert loved will continue to hold those he loved.
Robert Ray Sullard, 62, of Lawson, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly on May 4, 2026.
Robert was born on May 24, 1963, in Ottawa, Kansas. He graduated from Excelsior Springs High School in 1981 and proudly served his country in the United States Army shortly after graduation. In 1982, he married the love of his life, Tammie, and together they shared 44 years of marriage.
After serving in the Army, Robert carried his dedication to service into civilian life, working with the Kansas City Police Department, volunteering as a firefighter and EMT, and also working at Guy's Foods before beginning his longtime career with the United States Postal Service in 1993, where he ultimately retired as a Postmaster in 2021.
He was known for his witty banter, strong work ethic, his commitment to providing for his family, and his steady presence in the lives of those who knew him.
Above all, Robert was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He and Tammie raised four children and found great joy in their grandchildren, whom he loved dearly. He will be remembered for his loyalty, his sense of humor, and the deep love he had for his family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Eugene Sullard, and his mother, June Sullard.
Robert is survived by his wife, Tammie Sullard; his children, Christopher Sullard (Misty) of Independence, Missouri; Scott Sullard (Susan) of Boca Raton, Florida; Jamie Sullard of Lawson, Missouri; and Trevor Sullard (Lana) of Orrick, Missouri; his cherished grandchildren, Brayden Sullard, Cayden Sullard, Cadence Sullard, Avery Watson, Karli Sullard, Abigail Watson, and Spencer Sullard; and his sisters, Teresa Renick (Larry) and Tana Williams (Bobby), along with many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Lawson Baptist Church in Lawson, Missouri.
Funeral services will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, also at Lawson Baptist Church.
