It is with sorrow and gratitude that we mark the passing of Robert W. Fischer of Downingtown, PA — sorrow at the loss, gratitude for the life.
These are some of the moments and memories that shaped his story.
Robert held deeply to the Catholic faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew him best.
Faith is the language some lives are written in. Robert's was one.
Robert W. Fischer, 83, of Exton, formerly of Williamsburg, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2026 at his home with his family by his side. He was the loving husband of Lucille M. (Gillick) Fischer, sharing 58 years of marriage.
Born in Dover, New Jersey on July 6, 1942, he was the son of the late Emil W. and Edith G. (Wurm) Fischer. Robert graduated from Morris Hills High School and went on to receive his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from University of Cincinnati. He worked in sales and marketing, and following retirement, he spent 20 years as a tour guide in Colonial Williamsburg. After their recent move to Pennsylvania, he and his wife joined St. Elizabeth Catholic Church as members. Robert was an avid golfer, a fan of the Yankees, and loved to travel. He and his wife traveled the world, making it to all continents except Antarctica.
Surviving in addition to his wife Lucille are his children Jennifer Busch (James), of Chattanooga, TN, Christiane Petrillo (Pete), of Downingtown, and Brent Fischer (Tonya), of Hatfield; grandchildren Abagaile, Jackson and Miles Busch and Sydney and Ben Petrillo; and a sister-in-law Arlene Brink.
A funeral mass will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026 at 11 AM at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 110 St. Elizabeth Drive, Chester Springs, PA 19425. Visitation will be from 9:45 – 10:45 AM prior to mass at the church. Interment will be private.
