It is with sorrow and gratitude that we mark the passing of Terry Glen Shourd of Columbiaville, MI — sorrow at the loss, gratitude for the life.
Below, a small portrait of a life that will not soon be forgotten.
Terry spent his working life as ['the plumbing and pipefitting trade'] — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew him best.
We measure lives in love, not minutes.
Terry Glen Shourd, born on November 8, 1951, passed away on May 1, 2026, at home with his wife beside him.
Terry lived a life marked by devotion, hard work, and a genuine love for the people around him. He was known by those who loved him as a loving, spirited, and friendly man whose presence brought warmth and steadiness to his family and friends. Throughout his life, he carried himself with quiet strength and a generous heart, leaving behind a legacy that will be remembered with deep affection.
He served his country honorably in the United States Army, a chapter of his life that reflected his sense of duty and commitment. Following his military service, Terry built a long and respected career in the plumbing and pipefitting trade, retiring from Local 370. His work ethic and dedication were evident in all he did.
Terry found joy in the simple and meaningful pursuits such as stamp collecting and genealogy, interests that allowed him to explore the stories of the past and the ties that bind families together across generations. He also enjoyed working, a trait that spoke to both his practical nature and his enduring spirit. These interests were part of what made him who he was, and they brought him satisfaction throughout his life.
He is survived by his wife, Maureen, who stood faithfully by his side through the years and was with him at the time of his passing. He also leaves behind his children, Amy; TJ; Emily (John); Aaron; Jason (Alena); and Michael (Dara), his siblings, Marvin, Allen, and Paul. He was a proud grandfather to 15 grandchildren and a great-grandfather to two great-grandchildren, with one more on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Mary, and his brother Jeff. Their memory remained an important part of his life, and he now joins them in eternal rest.
Cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life with a luncheon to follow will be held 1:00PM - 3:00PM, Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Lapeer Community Church- Attica, MI. Arrangements entrusted to Jansen Family Funeral Home – Columbiaville. Memorial contributions in memory of Terry may be made to the American Liver Foundation.
