It is with sorrow and gratitude that we mark the passing of Timothy K. Proffit of Superior, WI — sorrow at the loss, gratitude for the life.

Timothy spent his working life as ['machinist with Moline Machinery LLC'] — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew him best.
Quiet kindness echoes longest.
Timothy K. Proffit, 73, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, in his home with his family by his side.Tim was born October 30, 1952, to Betty (Schlais) and Henry Proffit in Superior, WI.He was employed most of his career as a machinist with Moline Machinery LLC.As a lifelong resident of Superior Tim was involved in many different activities. Growing up he loved playing baseball, his cars, and listening to music. As an adult he was active in pool leagues, spent evenings at the Elbo room, dinners at Eddie’s, road trips and camping throughout Wisconsin. But most of all Tim loved his cherished wife “Sophie”. She was the love of his life. Together they raised two daughters that lit up his world. Tim will mostly be remembered as a smart, proud, family loving man.Tim was passionate about sports, especially his beloved Wisconsin teams. He loved to watch his grandchildren play sports and looked forward to each season.Tim was preceded in death by his parents and his niece, Wendy Chrest.He is survived by his wife of nearly 52 years, Joanne; his daughters, Tammy (Bob) Thornton, and Leah (Tim) Manion; his grandchildren, Allison, Conor, Bobby, Annabel, Amelia, and Coleton; his brother, Gary (Sharon) Proffit and his nephew, Gary.A celebration of life will be held Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Downs Life Celebration Center, 1902 N. 34th St., Superior, WI.
