After a life of love and quiet grace, Jose Roberto Meraz of Southaven, MS has passed.

What you read below is one part of a life lived with quiet purpose.

Jose spent his working life as ['metal fabricator'] — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew him best.

A name is a small thing to hold a whole life.

Jose Roberto Meraz, 20, passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2026. A visitation will be held Monday, May 4, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven (626 Star Landing Road East, Southaven, MS 38672). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at 1:00 p.m., also at Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven. Coleman Funeral Home of Southaven is in charge of local arrangements.

Jose was a hardworking man whose talents seemed endless. By trade, he worked as a metal fabricator, dedicating himself to his craft with skill, precision, and pride. But his abilities went far beyond his profession-if something needed to be built, fixed, or improved, Jose was the one everyone called.

He had a gift for working with his hands and could do just about anything. From lawn work and landscaping to home repairs and projects of all kinds, Jose took pride in making things look better and work better. He was dependable, resourceful, and never afraid to tackle a challenge.

Jose was truly the life of every gathering, a man whose presence could light up any room. He had a natural gift for storytelling, always ready with a joke, a playful remark, or a funny face that would leave everyone around him laughing. Jose wasn't just part of the moment-he was the moment.

A true character at heart, he loved being the center of attention and embraced it with joy and confidence. Whether among family or friends, he made sure no one felt left out, often drawing people in with his humor and larger-than-life personality.

Jose also had a passion for capturing memories. He was always taking pictures, preserving moments big and small. Of course, true to his playful spirit, only a handful of those photos were serious-the rest reflected his fun-loving nature and ability to find joy in every situation.

He will be remembered for his laughter, his warmth, and the unforgettable energy he brought into the lives of those who knew him. His spirit will live on in the countless memories, smiles, and stories he leaves behind.

Jose leaves behind his mother, Mildreth Meraz; his father, Jaime Castillo; his siblings, Eva, Isias, Jaime, Yuri, Berenice; his grandparents Papa Jose Manuel and Mamafina; his aunts and uncles, Maira (Beau) Davis of Hernando, MS, Heber and Terry, Fred and Celina, Miriam and Frank, Elmer and Karina, Cesar and Krista; hundreds of cousins; his longtime girlfriend, Avery Wade; many aunts and uncles; a host of beloved friends and extended family members.
