What Larry loved
Faith

After a life of love and quiet grace, Larry Boshart of Albany, OR has passed.

These are some of the moments and memories that shaped his story.

Some bonds are not loosened by absence.

Larry Duane Boshart was born to Elmer Boshart and Agnes Gerig Boshart in Albany, OR, in 1945 and died of a heart attack on May 1, 2026. The family lived in Albany until Larry was 8 years old when they moved to an acreage near Crabtree. After finishing the 8th grade at Crabtree School he then attended Albany Union High School. Though school presented many difficult challenges for Larry, he found respite in FFA and was once a champion cattle showman at the Linn County Fair. Many summers were spent with his sisters picking beans in local beanyards and selling nightcrawlers for $.25/dozen. Larry spent several years doing I-W alternative service in a Portland hospital. From there he began work at Simpson Plywood Mill. When that mill closed he began work as a custodian at his church and later became a custodian at the Heritage Mall. Larry had a green thumb and grew stunning, and sometimes award-winning, roses, fuschias, geraniums, and zinnias.Larry was a faithful participant at his church, now called Neighborhood Church, for many years. His parents preceded him in death; he is survived by his sisters--Mary Boshart and Betty (Phil) Histand, both of Albany, and by a niece and two nephews, who cared deeply for their uncle. A memorial service is planned for Saturday, May 9th at 3:00 p.m. at the Lakeside Center at the Mennonite Village where he was a resident. Memorial gifts may be made to the Neighborhood Church for local nonprofit ministries or to Meals on Wheels.
