After a life of love and quiet grace, Lou Evelyn Rodgers of Midlothian, TX has passed.
Here is what mattered, in the years between the dates.
Lou held deeply to the Baptist faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew her best.
Those who live by belief leave a different kind of mark.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lou Evelyn Rodgers, a compassionate, loving, talented, and generous soul, who departed this world on April 30, 2026. Born in Gorman, TX, on October 12, 1935, as Lou Evelyn Lasater, she was a beacon of unwavering love and warmth for her family and community.
Lou Evelyn was a woman of deep faith who devoted much of her time to the service of others. As a member of the First Baptist Church of Gorman and later Midlothian, she taught Sunday school, led the Girls Auxiliary, and directed the Vacation Bible School with fervor and grace. Her commitment to her faith and community was observed in her actions as she served on numerous civic boards and became a pillar of the community alongside her beloved husband, Gene Rodgers, to whom she was united in holy matrimony on April 5, 1951. Her home, a welcoming sanctuary of warmth and love, was a testament to her generous spirit and unmatched hospitality. "A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed." (Proverbs 11:25).
Lou Evelyn's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with threads of love, faith, and dedication. As a devoted wife, sister, aunt, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she found her joy in building a loving home and a strong family, her most cherished accomplishment. Her memory will continue to be a source of comfort and strength to her children, Linda R. Weaver, Danny Rodgers and Joe Rodgers. She is preceded in death by her parents, Hulon and Mayvis Lasater, and husband, Gene Rodgers, brother, Brent Lasater and his wife, Jean Lasater, daughter-in-law Nicol Walton Rodgers and niece, Jessica Lasater Brantley.
She enjoyed traveling to all the states in the U.S., but her most favorite place to go was Lake City, Colorado where she loved to ride horses with her family and fish the high lakes of that area. Catching the trout and frying them up by the lakeside gave her much joy. She looked out for whoever was with her at the lake which illustrated her servant's heart in everything she did.
Lou's hobbies included maintaining her beautiful rose filled yard, sewing, painting lovely oil paintings and interior walls trimmed to perfection, cooking for family and friends; especially her pinto beans and popcorn balls. She helped host many events including cattle sales at Jodanda Farms.
