After a life of love and quiet grace, Marcia Jane Garverick of Iron Mountain, MI has passed.
Here is the shape of a life remembered with love.
Marcia spent her working life as ['RN for several hospitals'] — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew her best.
Years are made of mornings, and mornings of moments.
Sagola- Marcia J. Garverick, 88, of Sagola, Mich., passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at Freeman Nursing & Rehab., Kingsford, Mich.
She was born June 27, 1937, in Hartford, Mich., daughter of the late Clarence and Hattie (Hutchins) Haney. Marcia grew up in Hartford, Mich., and graduated from Hartford High School. Following graduation, she received her Associate's Degree in Nursing. Marcia worked as an RN for several hospitals, including the V.A. Hospital, for 44 years.
She enjoyed woodburning, cooking, painting, fishing, picking berries and mushrooms, and just being outdoors. Marcia was a member of the Kingdom Hall, Kingsford, Mich.
Survivors include her sons, Lyle (Barb) Merrill, Channing, Mich., and Jay (Debbie) Merrill, Chassell, Mich.; and her grandchildren, Phillip, Christina, Seth (Dannielle), and Kati (Stephen); and her great-grandchildren, Matthew, Carolyn, and Sloane.
In addition to her parents, Marcia was preceded in death by her first husband, Eldon Merrill; her second husband, Chris Garverick; her daughter-in-law, Carrie Merrill; and her great-grandson, Declan.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain, Mich. A Memorial Service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Elder Dave Carpenter will officiate. Burial will take place in Channing Cemetery.
