After a life of love and quiet grace, Norma Grandone of Calverton, NY has passed.

What remains is memory — and the gratitude of those she loved.

What we carry forward is the light others gave us.

Norma Rose Grandone, 90, passed away peacefully on Monday May 4th, 2026.

She was born on May 2nd, 1936, in Astoria Queens to Dorothea and Bruno Visnovitz.

She graduated from Hunter High School with honors and pursued her college studies at Hunter College. She met her husband Danny Grandone in 1956, and they married in 1958.

She worked for TIAA Teachers Insurance and left her career there to raise a family of 5 boys. No easy task at all.

Between the classic cars in the driveway, the guitars in the basement, fishing poles, surfboards and all the wild animals her sons brought home, the neighborhood kids hanging out in the basement, she had her hands full. She quickly mastered all these situations and was famous for cooking everyone her specialty…… Chicken Cutlets.

Norma was fluent in Italian and Spanish. She was known affectionally as Doctor Norma to friends and relatives who called for advice for their children.

Norma was always there for her sons education since she was a whiz at math, and with second language homework.

She took great delight in designing many gowns and dresses for herself,

and later in life designed clothes for dolls. She loved opera music which is something she shared with her father Bruno.

Especially, the Italian Bel Canto style.

She also shared a love of music with her sons.

Especially Frank Zappa, Pink Floyd and ZZ Top. Go Figure.

She was also the primary caretaker for her own mother for over two decades.

Norma was married for 60 years to Danny and was a devoted mother and a loving and caring wife to her husband. The family would not be the same without her.

She is survived by her sons, Joseph and his wife Alana, Donald and his wife Peri, Anthony, Michael, and Bobby and his wife Jennifer Grandone; her grandchildren, Brittany Grandone, Andrew Grandone and his wife Veronica, and their son, her great grandson Luciano (the light of her life).

Her cousins Johnny and Robert Delgrosso.

She is also survived by her sister-in-law Mary DeBerry, who is now 104, and Mary's son Steven. And her nieces, Lynne Noviello and Angela Riccobono.

Dear Lord, we sent Norma home to you.

We know you will protect her and guide her with love and grace.

We know she will be with her husband Danny for eternity.

Rest in Peace Dearest Mother.
