After a life of love and quiet grace, Peter Kirk Sutherland of Swainsboro, GA has passed.

Peter held deeply to the Baptist faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew him best.

Some find their compass in faith. Peter was among them.

Mr. Peter Kirk Sutherland, 64, of Swainsboro passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at his residence. He was born on September 28, 1961, in Marietta to the late Ray G. Sutherland and Sara Carstarphen Sutherland. Pete was preceded in death by his parents and brother, David Sutherland.He was a member of Dellwood Baptist Church. Pete was very active in his community, whether in the school system, on the ballfield or on Santa’s sleigh. He enjoyed golf and baseball. In his younger years, he was always at the racetrack. Throughout his life, you could find him on the back of his Harley. On Saturdays, Pete would be with his wrestlers or jamming out by DJing with Saturn Sounds. He was a social butterfly who never met a stranger. At Christmas time he was a special “gift” to children by helping Santa. Pete was a paramedic for 30 years. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club and Brotherhood at Dellwood Baptist Church. In what little spare time he had, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. His favorite place to visit was St. Augustine Beach, Florida.Survivors include his wife of almost 38 years, Brenda Sutherland of Swainsboro; daughters, Kayla Vaughn (Jay), Kelly Logan (Stone), both of Swainsboro; grandchildren, Jacob Sutherland, Kayden Sutherland, Elijah Vaughn, Preston Logan, Wyatt Logan, Clayton Logan; brother, Smokey Sutherland (Lydia) of Macon; special friends, Hollis Eastman (Tina), Isaiah Danielly, Leah`Ana Eastman, Rilee Eastman, Kaylani Danielly; several nieces, nephews and many friends.Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 8, 2026, at Dellwood Baptist Church with Reverend Joe Bedgood officiating.Interment will follow at Eastbrook Cemetery & Mausoleum in Swainsboro.The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 7, 2026, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home.Pallbearers will be Paul Lumley, Tommy Hadden, Brandon Josey, Nathan Rogers, Rick Schultz, and Mike Newsome.Honorary pallbearers will be Will Roberson and Andrew Coxwell.The family welcomes friends to the home of Kayla Vaughn at 42 Phillips Street, Swainsboro, GA to express their condolences.Condolences may be expressed at www.chapmanfhofswainsboro.comChapman Funeral Home of Swainsboro is in charge of all arrangements for Mr. Peter Kirk Sutherland, 64, of Swainsboro.
