Victoria Dowling, age 90, died on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at her home, with her family by her side. Victoria was born on May 2, 1936, in New York, NY and was the daughter of the late Michael and Stella (Poznack) Uss.
Victoria attended Hicksville High School and continued her education at Adelphi University, earning her bachelor's degree in chemistry and biology. Victoria married her husband, Robert C. Dowling on February 2, 1957, and together they spent nearly 70 years raising their family and building a beautiful life together.
Victoria enjoyed knitting, crocheting, tending to her garden and reading. She was a communicant of St. Edward the Confessor Church since its founding, and a member of the Altar-Rosary Society. Victoria had made many friends in her neighborhood, being a member of the "Birthday Club" and a longtime member of the Locust Lane Pool. Most importantly, she was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her family; always putting her children first. She excelled in preparing, hosting and cooking for many extended family gatherings and holidays, and was always generously helping her friends and family through hard times.
Victoria is survived by her husband, Robert C. Dowling; her children, Robert C. (Mary) Dowling, Jr., Jeanne M. (Christos Cosfol) Dowling, Stephen V. (Cheryl) Dowling and Kenneth C. Dowling; her grandchildren, Shawn, Brianna, Jessica, Stephanie, Jeffrey, Jakob, Gustav and Ellen; her great-grandchildren, Ivory, Lucy, Anastasia, Stephen, Edvin and Bjorn, and her brother, Michael (Valentina) Uss, Jr.
In addition to her parents, Victoria was preceded in death by her sons, Lawrence J. and Michael E. Dowling and her grandson, Samuel Dowling.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 8, 2026, at 11:00am at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 569 Clifton Park Center Road, Clifton Park, NY.
All are welcome to join the family for the interment at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna, NY, immediately following Mass.
A reception will be held for family and friends at a later date to be announced.
The family would like to express its gratitude to the wonderful people of Community Hospice for the compassionate care they gave Victoria in her final days.
