Patricia Ann "Pat" Pregill of Phoenix, AZ, has passed away, leaving behind a family and community who loved her dearly.
Some stories deserve to be told slowly. This is one of them.
Patricia held deeply to the Catholic faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew her best.
What is held in faith is rarely lost.
After 95 wonderful years, Patricia Ann "Pat" Pregill passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 26, 2026.
Born on March 17, 1931, in Lincoln, Nebraska, Pat was the daughter of Theresa Colling Hastings and Frank Hastings, a hybrid corn farmer for the Mayo Bros. She graduated from Lexington High School and went on to pursue her calling in nursing, earning her R.N. from St. Joseph's Hospital in Denver, Colorado.
Following graduation, Pat accepted a nursing position with Dole Pineapple on the island of Lanai in the Territory of Hawaii. It was there she met the love of her life, Herb Pregill. The two were married on May 12, 1956, beginning a lifelong partnership filled with love, adventure, and devotion to family.
Together, they raised four children while traveling extensively throughout the world, from Europe to Australia, New Zealand, and Thailand. Pat also graciously welcomed many into her home, often hosting visiting travel agents and friends with warmth and generosity.
Pat continued her nursing career with dedication and compassion, working with the TB Association, in dermatology practice, and ultimately serving as the administrator of Lunalilo Home, a retirement community for Hawaiian elders.
In 1987, Pat and Herb moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where she remained active in the Welcome Wagon for many years and was a devoted member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church.
In 2018, she moved to The Beatitudes Campus in Phoenix, where she enjoyed seven very happy years, forming meaningful friendships and touching countless lives. Pat was a woman you never forgot-known for her kindness, her strength, and the ever-present smile on her face.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 46 years, Herb Pregill.
She is survived by her four children, Cynthia Pregill, Michele Pregill, Susan Davidson, and Scott (Erlyn) Pregill; her grandchildren Jennifer, Danielle, Melissa, Amanda, Matthew, Jessica, and Nicholas; and eleven great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held on May 22nd, 2026 at The Beatitudes Campus, 1610 W. Glendale Avenue, Phoenix, Arizona. Funeral Mass will begin at 3:00 p.m., with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Resident Assistance Fund at The Beatitudes.
