Preston Peaden of Santa Fe, NM, has passed away, leaving behind a family and community who loved him dearly.

These are the contours of a life that meant a great deal to many.

What was given remains, even when the giver is gone.

Preston Peaden, a one-of-a-kind man whose love, humor, and heart will stay with us always. It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of a cherished husband, father, and friend. Preston was born on April 14th, 1947 and passed away on May 2, 2026, at the age of 79, after living a full life. He was a man who found joy in the simple things-a daily espresso while watching the sunrise, creating one of a kind pieces of art in his living room, sitting on the couch passing time talking and playing with his dogs, going on drives with no destination, taking pictures while watching the sunset, and sharing stories of his adventures that made everyone smile, laugh, and feel lucky to know him. Preston's kindess, humor, and genuine presence left a lasting mark. Even the most guarded hearts didn't stand a chance-he always found a way in. Silence never lasted long around him and strangers rarely stayed that way for long. If you gave him a minute, he'd give you a story, and by the end of it, you were his friendIn keeping with his wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. He asked instead for something more meaningful to him-that his remains be spread at Muley Point, a place where he felt most at peace. Whether it was the sound of the wind, the open sky, or the memories he made there, it was a place that truly felt like home to him. Those that knew him are invited to remember him in their own way-by sharing a story, revisiting a place he loved, or simply taking a quiet moment to think of him. His spirit lives on in the memories he gave us and the love he shared so freely.
