Raymond Geyer of Kenmare, ND has gone home, leaving behind a circle of those who loved him.

A life remembered begins, simply, with the telling.

Raymond spent his working life as ['Farmers Union delivering propane', 'the oilfield'] and held deeply to the Lutheran faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew him best.

Belief, when lived, becomes a kind of inheritance.

Raymond Geyer, 78, Kenmare, ND, passed away Sunday, April 26, 2026, at Trinity Hospital in Minot.

Raymond Chester Geyer was born September 24, 1947, the son of Lynn and Julia (Solem) Geyer, in Minot. He was raised on the family farm and educated in Carpio and Donnybrook. After graduating from Carpio High School, he attended Minot State University in hopes of becoming a history teacher.

While in college he met the love of his life, Jane Lee, through mutual friends. They married under the eyes of God on October 10, 1970. They made their home in Bowman, North Dakota. In 1971, they moved to Kenmare where he worked at Farmers Union delivering propane. In 1975, Ray began his career in the oilfield. During his days in the patch, he met and employed numerous people that he respected. It was his days in the patch that led him to his dream and passion, the family farm. His dream was fulfilled in 1985 when Ray and his brother, Dave, took over the family farm from their parents. For many years Ray used his expertise in the oilfield to fuel his passion, the family farm. Up until his last day he poured his devotion to the family ground.

His loving family includes: son, Wylie (Sherry) Geyer; daughter, Wendi Geyer; granddaughters, Sophie Peck, Kaitlin (Jordan) Urbach, Jamie Geyer, Whitni (Cole Erickson) Peck; grandson, Si Tonneson; great-grandson, Monty Urbach; brother, Eddy Geyer; sister, Judy Zietz; lifelong friend and extra son, Brian Stroklund; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lynn and Julia Geyer; brothers, David Geyer and Jeffery Geyer; the love of his life, Jane Geyer.

Funeral: Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at 2:00 pm at Carpio Lutheran Church, Carpio.
