With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Anthony J. Lamana of West Deptford, NJ.
A life is more than dates on a stone; here is a small portion of his story.
What Anthony gave his children, they will give to theirs.
Anthony J. Lamana, age 80, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 1, 2026, at home, surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Frank and Rachel Lamano.
Anthony proudly served in the United States Airforce after high school. Following his military service, he worked alongside Mary's cousin to learn carpentry work, as well as plumbing and electricity. He was just a phone call away for family and friends in need of home repairs and later used his talents to build his marital home. Anthony then built a long career at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard where he started out as a pipefitter on the dry docks, completed several river-runs on the battleships and moved his way up to retiring as the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor.
Anthony enjoyed time spent with his family and friends at his trailer at Seashore Line outside of Sea Isle, as well as fishing, hunting and golfing. He enjoyed sharing stories of the times he hunted and fished "at the pond" with his brother, Bobby. He cherished all time spent with his grandson, Anthony, who stole his heart the minute he was born. He was a 20-year volunteer with the Deptford Fire Department (Community Fire Company of Lake Tract) where he made several life long friends, including Pat Natalino "Yo Joe." Anthony remained committed to serving his community throughout his life.
He is survived by his beloved children, Gina Lamana (Kevin Sweeney) and Nic Lamana and his wife, Karen, and his cherished grandson, Anthony Mitchell Lamana. He is also survived by his siblings, Frankie Lamano, Rita Shuster (Bill) and Catherine (Joseph) Morice as well as his special grand fur babies, Lulu, Maggie, Shiloh and Deuce.
Anthony was predeceased by his loving wife, Mary A. Lamana (nee Ronan), his parents, Frank and Rachel Lamano; and his siblings, Bobby Lamano and Marion Friders.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday, May 7, 2026 from 9:30am to 11:00am at Smith Funeral Home, 47 Main Street, Mantua, NJ 08051. A funeral service will follow at 11:00am. Burial and Military Honors will take place at Woodbury Memorial Park in West Deptford, New Jersey.
