With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Betty Louise Day of Chatsworth, GA.

A life remembered begins, simply, with the telling.

Time has its way of binding people together.

Betty Day, age 72 of Chatsworth passed away May 4, 2026 at Redmond Hospital in Rome Georgia.

She is preceded in death by her father Charlie Hugh Shaw; mother Gertie Rebecca Weeks; sister Gertie Mae Releford; and brother James Tony Hugh Shaw.

She is survived by her son James(Valarie) Day of Dalton; daughter Angela(Christopher) Sanford; brother Johnny(Scarlett) Weeks of Resaca; sister Bobbie Weeks; grandchildren Tabitha Tarleton, Alyssa Payne, Jacob Day, Larry Day, and Amber Knight; great grandchildren Brantley Grizzle, Gracie Wagnon, Ryder Garnham, Stella Garnham, Annaleigh Blue, Maddox Payne, Bryson White, Riley White, Chandler White, Ellis Day, Nova Day, Callie Day, and Addison Day; special friends Julie Jackson and Gary Black; several nieces nephews and cousins also survive. The only thing she loved more than her family was her cat Kickers.

She was affectionately known as Mom and Nanny to the whole community. She was a great mother and grandmother. She was a very giving person, would never ask for anything but would give you everything she had. She was full of quick wit and southern charm and loved to "Bless Your Heart".

A service to honor the life of Betty Day will be held on Friday May 8th at 3pm in the chapel of Shawn Chapman Funeral Home with Dwayne Payne officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12pm to 3pm. Interment will be at Immanuel United Fellowship Ministries.
