Mr. Charles Thomas Powell, aged 79, of Temple, peacefully passed away on Monday, May 4, 2026. Born on March 3, 1947, in Atlanta. Charles is preceded in death by his brothers, Edward Powell and Bill Davis.Charles began his career with Ford Motor Company in Hapeville and later contributed his skills at General Motors in Doraville. He went on to work for various construction companies, where he was known for his expertise in installing siding, windows, and cabinets. Recognized as a talented handyman, Charles had a unique ability to find creative solutions for repairs. For more than 23 years, he was a devoted employee of Oak Mountain Christian Academy, serving as Maintenance Director and generously giving his time as a golf coach. Charles enjoyed playing golf and fishing whenever possible. Family was at the heart of his life, and he devoted himself to assisting with his sons’ youth football and baseball teams. A man of Christian faith and a proud patriot, Charles loved his country deeply.He leaves behind his beloved wife of 61 years, Marion Powell of Temple; his sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Dulcie Powell of Temple, and Chuck and Christy Powell of Carrollton; his brother, Edward Powell; grandchildren Ansley Powell and Austin Buffaloe, Hannah Powell, Charity Bailey and her husband Doug, Austin Frazier and his wife Mika; as well as great-grandchildren Crue, Daxton, and Caroline. Charles is also survived by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jim and Sandra Batchelor, along with many other friends and relatives.Graveside services will be conducted on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at 3 P.M. at West Georgia Memorial Park with Brother Keith Horsley officiating.In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made in Charles Powell’s honor to the Tunnel To Towers Foundation.Messages of condolence can be made to the family by signing the online guestbook below.Hutcheson-Croft Funeral Home of Temple is entrusted with the arrangements.
