With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Elaine Dorothy Tyler of Johns Creek, GA.

These are some of the moments and memories that shaped her story.

Elaine held deeply to the Catholic faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew her best.

A life of belief is a life of quiet conversation with something larger.

Elaine Dorothy Tyler passed away on April 28, 2026. Elaine was born on January 6, 1937, in Detroit, Michigan. Elaine earned a bachelor's degree from Wayne State University and a master's degree from Oakland University.

Educating special needs children was Elaine's chosen vocation. She spent the majority of her career with the Utica Community Public Schools. She began teaching as a first-grade teacher in 1960. She then put her career on pause to lovingly raise a family. Elaine resumed her career, ultimately retiring in 1998 after 24 years of serving the special needs students and community of the Utica Community Public Schools.

A devout Catholic, Elaine was active at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Rochester, Michigan, as a Eucharistic Minister and other service capacities. She also volunteered at a pregnancy crisis center and the Rochester Garden Club. After she moved to Georgia, she became active at St. Brigid Catholic Church in John's Creek, Georgia. She was an avid reader, who also loved to garden, bake and spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Elaine was married to her husband Robert for fifty-seven years before he passed in 2018. She is the loving mother of Natalie (Brett) Taylor, Robert (Maggie) Tyler, and Patrick (Ginna) Tyler; dear grandmother of Michael, Elizabeth, Andrew, and Katie, dear sister of Jean Cipa and Bettie Michaels, and three grand dogs. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Special Olympics.

Services will be held Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at 11:00 AM at St. Brigid Catholic Church, 3400 Old Alabama Road, Johns Creek, Georgia.
