With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Jean Bowden of Brigham City, UT.

Here is what mattered, in the years between the dates.

Jean held deeply to the Latter-day Saints faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew her best.

What Jean believed shaped how she loved.

With love and remembrance, we celebrate the life of Jean Perkes Bowden, a remarkable mother, wife, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Born in Moreland, Idaho, on September 17, 1932, a woman of resilient spirit, and lifelong service, passed away of natural causes on May 3, 2026, peacefully in her home.

Her life spanned nearly a century of change and through it all, she remained deeply committed to her faith, her family, and the work set before her. She built a life defined not by ease, but by perseverance, growth, and quiet devotion. She was deeply involved in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving as primary teacher, primary secretary, faithful ministering sister in Relief Society, and devoted temple patron.

She married Spence Orchard Bowden in the Idaho Falls Temple on October 10, 1950. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary prior to Spence passing in September 2000.

She had 15 siblings and often talked about being part of a large family, as she was the second oldest.

She spent her first years of marriage in Idaho until moving to Ogden in 1954 where Spence worked on the railroad. After working as an elementary school lunch cook for 18 years and retired, they moved to Perry, Utah. They were blessed with 3 children, Carol, Fred, and Bill.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Asa and Ethel Perkes, her spouse, Spence Bowden, son, Fred Spencer, 7 brothers, and 4 sisters.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol (Phil), son William (Michele), grandchildren, Ashlee (Jorden), Braun (Stephanie), Kylee, Michael (Samantha), Katie (Kayden), Annalee, Matt (Jordan), and 20 great-grandchildren with 2 on the way. Also survived by 2 brothers, Theo and Todd, and 2 sisters, Becky and Beth.

There are not enough words to express how much Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma will be missed. We'll miss her beautiful smile, her contagious laugh, and her never-ending love and support.

Funeral services will be on Friday, May 8, 2026, at 11:00 am, at the Perry Utah Stake Center, 685 W. 2250 S. Perry, Utah. A viewing will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2026, from 5:00-7:00 pm, at Myers Mortuary of Brigham City, 205 S. 100 E. Brigham City, Utah.
