With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Joanne June Yeater of Marion, IA.

What follows is not the whole story, but a thread of it.

What Joanne gave her children, they will give to theirs.

Joanne June Yeater, 90, of Marion, Iowa, died on May 1, 2026, at her home. Private family services will be held with burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Joanne was born on June 20, 1935, to parents Norman and Dorothy Koch Techau in Morley, IA. Joanne and Marvin were united in marriage on July 28, 1959. She worked for 37 years at Collins Radio.

Joanne loved to travel, often taking trips with close friends in earlier years and later enjoying many travels with Marvin during their retirement. She always enjoyed a good garage sale and rarely passed up a trip to Von Maur. She found her greatest joy in being with her family. Joanne was a true optimist and always saw the bright side of things.

Joanne is survived by her children, Steve Yeater (Patty) of Iowa City, Iowa; Joan Yeater of Marion, Iowa; and Scott Yeater (Tracy) of Shellsburg, Iowa; five grandchildren: Sarah Caldwell, Samantha Lilienthal (Ryan), Nick Yeater (Omnia), Victoria Yeater, and Kelsey Oliver (Kyle); and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her two sisters, Linda Becker and Nancy (Kay) Techau, who were very dear to her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Yeater.

She will be greatly missed by her family.

Arrangements are being handled by Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
