Jose Bobby Martinez, 79, a resolute husband, father, friend, and lifelog resident of Chimayo, New Mexico, journeyed his way to heaven on May 1st, 2026. Born on April 11th, 1947, to Toribio and Selsa Martinez in Chimayo, Bobby led a life defined by hard work and profound love for his family.Bobby enjoyed daily phone calls to friends and family, he loved and cared for every one of them and always made it a point to check in. Bobby spent most of his days working, he was a miner in Montana for many years, then went on to become a custodian at The New Mexico State Land Office in Santa Fe. He also enjoyed tending to his garden and fruit trees, as well as fixing his pickup truck.Bobby was preceded in death by his son; Moses Martinez, his parents; Toribio and Selsa Martinez, In-laws; Ismael and Estella Martinez, brothers; Hector, Lorenzo, Orlando, Eluid, Dennis, Anselmo, and Gabino Martinez, sisters; Alicia Glass and Natalia Moya, all of Chimayo New Mexico.He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years Elsie Martinez, daughters; Lorie Martinez and Shawnee Martinez, grandsons; Gabriel Martinez and Christopher Andres Ortiz, granddaughter; Kayla Martinez, great-grandson; James Ortiz, sister; Lita Ortiz, and numerous additional nieces, nephews, family members, and close friends.A Funeral Service to honor Jose Bobby Martinez’s life will take place on Tuesday May 12th, 2026, at Holy Family Parish in Chimayo New Mexico with a Rosery to begin at 9:00am, and a Funeral Mass to begin at 10:00am.Jose Bobby Martinez will be missed by all who know him. He was a man who lived fully and left a lasting imprint on the hearts of his family and friends.The family of Mr. Martinez have entrusted the caring professionals at Rivera Family Funeral Home of Espanola to support them during this time.
