Karen Irene Mize

Karen Irene Mize, age 80, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2026, leaving behind a life defined by love, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends. To know Karen was to feel genuinely seen and welcomed-she had a rare gift for making others feel at ease, as though they had known her forever.

Born in Eden, North Carolina, Karen lived a life marked by grace, resilience, and a deep love for others. She had a remarkable way of making people feel seen, heard, and valued. Her warmth turned even the briefest encounters into meaningful connections.

Karen held a deep passion for learning and an even greater joy in sharing what she knew. Whether through teaching, mentoring, or heartfelt conversations, she had a natural ability to guide and encourage others. Her wisdom was always offered generously, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of learning from her.

She never met a stranger, yet she also treasured a close circle of lifelong friends who became like family. These relationships, built over decades, were a source of great joy and comfort, nurtured with loyalty, laughter, and sincere affection.

Karen found happiness in life's simple pleasures-a good book, her favorite shows and movies, and, most of all, time spent with her family and friends. Among her proudest accomplishments were her children and grandchildren, her enduring friendships, and earning her master's degree, reflecting her determination and lifelong love of learning.

She is lovingly survived by her daughters, Kelly Rogers and Kendal Gunn; her cherished grandchildren, Ramsey Rogers, Ford Rogers, Claudia Gunn, and Xander Gunn; and her brothers, Michael Mize, Jimmy Mize, Tim Mize, and Max Mize.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Claudia Louise Meeks Mize and Jesse Herman Mize.

A Celebration of Life honoring Karen will be held on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Rogers home.

Karen's love will continue to shine through the lives she touched. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the hearts of those who knew her.
