With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Lori Thorstensen Taeger of Ogden, UT.

The following words honor a life that mattered to many.

Lori held deeply to the Latter-day Saints faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew her best.

A life of belief is a life of quiet conversation with something larger.

Lori Thorstensen Taeger, age 52, passed away peacefully, though unexpectedly, in her sleep on Friday, May 1, 2026 at her home in Ogden.

Lori was born February 5, 1974 in Ogden, Utah to Greg and Linda (Palmer) Thorstensen.

As a child, she participated in Hawaiian dancing, clogging, and won Spelling Bee tournaments. She enjoyed playing the piano, fishing, vacationing with her family, and spending time with her friends.

Lori attended Ogden High School where she graduated in 1992. She was on the Varsity Tennis Team. She received the Governor's Tuition Award and attended Weber State University. Lori went on to complete Cosmetology courses at the ATC, earning her Cosmetology License after taking a brief pause to work a summer up at Jackson Lake Lodge, a time she fondly remembered.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was very proud to have earned her Young Womanhood Award through various acts of service.

Lori married Darrin Taeger on October 6, 1994. Though they later divorced, she was blessed with two beautiful daughters, Amanda in 1996 and Savannah in 1998, fulfilling Lori's lifelong dream of becoming a mother. Lori was an amazing mother and her daughters were her whole world. She spent much of her time volunteering at her daughter's school and helping children learn to read. She was a PTA Treasurer and President and was known and loved by all the teachers and students.

Lori had a knack for all things creative and loved art in all its forms, ranging from painting, doodling, and sketching to poetry and music, to sewing, crafts, and decorating, to photography and design. She loved flowers and took great joy in in making floral arrangements. She also loved to cook and bake tasty meals and treats and was well known for her exquisitely decorated cookies and cakes.

Above all else, Lori loved spending time with her daughters. It didn't matter what they were doing, as long as they were spending time together. She also loved spoiling her dog, Ninja, with treats and made sure he was always well fed.

Lori was preceded in death by her father, Greg Thorstensen, and brother, Jeff Thorstensen.

She is survived by her two daughters, Amanda Taeger and Savannah Taeger; her mother, Linda Thorstensen; her brother, Mike (Emily) Thorstensen. She is survived also by many nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be held May 7, 2026 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Boulevard, Ogden, Utah. A graveside service will be held May 8, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Myers Evergreen Memorial Park, 100 Monroe Boulevard, Ogden, Utah.

Due to the sudden nature of her passing, in lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate any donations to help with the final expenses.
