With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Margaret Catherine "Margie" Davitt of Bronx, NY.

These few paragraphs cannot hold a life, but they may carry a memory.

Quiet kindness echoes longest.

Margaret "Margie" Davitt, 92, passed away peacefully after a long and fulfilling life on April 24,2026.

Margaret Catherine Fitzgibbons was born on the West Side of Manhattan. It was there she met the love of her life, John Davitt. They married in 1956 and happily enjoyed life together for 42 years until his passing.

They moved to Claflin Avenue in the Bronx within the OLA parish. There, they raised their children with a group of friends that became family. Later, Margie and her family moved to the Riverdale section of the Bronx where they established lasting friendships.

Margie always spoke of her memories at Ehring's Restaurant where she worked until it closed. She also loved to speak of her time at Van Cortlandt golf course where she worked in the pro shop.

Margaret is predeceased by her husband John, daughter Janet, son Kevin, son in law Terrence and grandson Colin.

Margie leaves behind a loving family with daughters Tara Bohan (Terrence) and Deirdre Broderick (Daniel), Son in law John Rice and daughter in law Rosemarie Davitt. Grandchildren: Brendan (Dana), Cristina (Jacob), Owen (Elizabeth), Meghan (Brian), Colleen (Michael), Brian and John. She also leaves behind a growing number of great grandchildren: Grace, Eva, Kevin, Thomas, Lucas, Charlotte, Eloise, Lily, Zachary and Theodore.

Reposing will be held on Tuesday, May 5th from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home, 6110 Riverdale Ave. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, May 6th at St. Margaret of Cortona Church at 9:45 AM. Interment to follow at St. Francis Cemetery, Mt. Kisco, NY.
