Mark Short, 71, of Cedar Rapids, IA passed away on April 29, 2026. Memorial visitation will be held on May 9, 2026, from 10:00 am until 11:00 am. Memorial Service at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories in Cedar Rapids following visitation. Inurnment will be held at a later date.

He was born on June 15, 1954, in Lake City, IA. In the mid-1950s he and his parents Robert and Geraldine Short moved to Cedar Rapids. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1972. He was in the Air Force then worked at Rockwell Collins where he retired after 40 years.

He was married to Joni Caster in 1982, and they had three children, Jennifer, Jessica, and Daniel. He enjoyed collecting, woodworking and family vacations including road trips to national parks, museums, and zoos.

He is survived by his wife Joni; their three children - Jennifer (Brian) Eilers-Visser; Jessica (Daniel) Hepworth; Daniel (Mary) Short; seven grandchildren; two step grandchildren; four Aunts; two nephews; a niece and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his sister Marcella, father Robert, father-in-law Clifford Caster, mother-in-law Betty Caster, sister-in-law Pat Miltenberger and mother Geraldine.
