Mary held deeply to the Baptist faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew her best.
What Mary believed shaped how she loved.
Our beloved mother and grandmother, Mary Ellen Boucher, 91, of
Mount Vernon, Ohio, went to be with her Lord and Savior on
Sunday, May 3, 2026, at her home surrounded by family.
Mary was born on January 3, 1935, in Utica, Ohio, to Frank and
Leontine (Jewell) Sindlinger.
Mary trusted Christ as her Savior at a young age and belonged to
Faith Baptist Church. Mary leaves a legacy of love to a large
extended family. She delighted in her children, grandchildren,
great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She also
shared her love with many bonus family members.
Mary's favorite pastimes were reading and crocheting special
gifts. She also loved playing cards, watching movies, and playing
games with her many friends and family.
Mary is survived by her six children, Michael Boucher, Jeff
(Norma) Boucher, Sue (Loren) Reed, Dawn (Bruce) Giehl, Mark
(Nina) Boucher, Michelle (Jack) Hamilton; grandchildren, Joshua
Boucher, Simon Boucher, Tonya Boucher, Nichole Boucher
McCurdy, Aaron (Lisa) Boucher, Joel Hatfield, Aimee (Curtis)
Hulse, Nathan (Heidi) Hudepohl, Clay (Angela) Hudepohl, Will
Reed, Christina (Mark) Sheets, Jennifer (Nathan) Pierpont,
Jamison (Natalie) Giehl, Mary (Caleb) Atwater, Heath (Erika)
Boucher, Quentin "Bo" (Deanna) Boucher, Justin (Abbie)
Hamilton, and Jared Hamilton; along with numerous great-
grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and nieces and
nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved, faithful furbaby
Sammy; her husband, Marcel R. Boucher; a son, Steven
Boucher; four grandchildren, April and Julia Giehl, Travis
Boucher, and Jack Hamilton,III; three brothers, Myers, Lloyd, and
Bill; and two sisters, Ila and Shirley.
A private graveside service will be held for family. A Celebration of
Life service will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026 with visitation
at 1:00 PM and service to follow at 2:00 PM at Faith Baptist
Church, 8764 Martinsburg Road in Mount Vernon with Pastor
Nathan Pierpont and Pastor Matt Otto officiating.
Friends and family wishing to honor Mary may make a donation to
the Knox County Humane Society or Luminary Hospice.
