Cooper City – Mr. Jon Cretu, 68, of Cooper City, Florida, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 28, 2026.
Born in Uzdin, Yugoslavia, to Moise and Marta Cretu, he was the eldest of two sons. In his earlier years, he attended school in Yugoslavia and later immigrated and became a citizen of the United States. Initially he resided in Chicago, Illinois, where he studied and earned his Bachelor and Masters degree in chemical engineering. He later moved to South Florida where he pursued a career as a financial planner. He was a third generation member of the Holy Trinity Romanian Orthodox Church.
Survived by his loving family including wife, Pompilia Brostean-Cretu, son, Filip Cretu, daughter, Anamaria Cretu, son-in-law, Christopher Spitaleri, sister and brother in law, Romanca Brostean, and Veselin Sasivari, brother, Silvius Krecu, sister-in-law, Nicoleta Krecu, and father and mother in law, Pavel and Ana Brostean.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at Boyd-Panciera Family Funeral Care in Pembroke Pines, Florida.
His burial will be held on Friday, May 8, 2026, at the Fred Hunter Cemetery, Courage Mausoleum in Hollywood, Florida.
