Mrs. held deeply to the Baptist faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew her best.

Statesboro, Georgia
Carolyn Evette Wright, affectionately known as "Lala" by her family, passed away on April 28, 2026, at the age of 72 at East Georgia Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. Born in Statesboro, Georgia, to the late Joseph and Clarice Davis, Ms. Wright was a lifelong resident of Bulloch County.
A graduate of Statesboro High School, Class of 1972, Carolyn dedicated her career to serving others. Her professional endeavors included positions at Cooper Wiss, as a switchboard operator at Bulloch Memorial Hospital, and most notably, as a Certified Nursing Assistant on the postpartum unit at East Georgia Regional Medical Center, where she served for 14 years. Recognized for her exceptional compassion and commitment to caring for others, she positively impacted many lives throughout her career.
In her personal life, Carolyn enjoyed expressing her creativity through painting and sewing. She took solace and inspiration in reading her Bible and held her Christian faith close to her heart. Her kindness, generosity, and devotion to family and community will be fondly remembered and deeply missed.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her beloved son, Demetrius Wright (Safarrah); her brother, Joseph Davis Jr. (Zarlene); and her sister, Kimberly Davis.
She is survived by her daughter, Shana Deal (Brad) of Statesboro, Georgia; grandchildren, Demetrius Jadon Wright and Devon Wright of College Park, Georgia, Abreeba Wright of Valdosta, Georgia, Amir Wright of San Diego, California, and Luke Deal, Caroline Deal, and Michael Deal of Statesboro, Georgia. Also surviving are her former husband, Alfred Wright of Statesboro, Georgia; siblings, Rhoda Cowart (Jeremiah) of Homestead, Florida, Joanne Sabb (Gary) of Portal, Georgia, Cherry Davis-Littles of Statesboro, Georgia, Joyce Lane (Alzono) of Statesboro, Georgia, Craig Davis (Renee) of College Park, Georgia, and Crystal Groschel (John) of Pine, Colorado; god-sister, Ramona Perry of Savannah, Georgia; one aunt, Suzie Smith of Statesboro, Georgia; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A family visitation will be held from, 5 P.M. to 7 P.M., on Friday evening, May 8, 2026, at the Ben Samuel Hill Memorial Chapel of Hill's Mortuary, Inc.
The funeral services for Mrs. Carolyn Evette Wright will be held at 11 A.M., Saturday, May 9, 2026, at the Saint Mary's Missionary Baptist Church with the pastor, Rev. Timotheus Mincey, presiding and the Elder Donald Chavers, Jr., eulogist. The burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Final rites have been entrusted to Hills Mortuary, Inc.
