Mrs. held deeply to the Baptist faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew her best.

Funeral services for Mrs. Lily Whitlow, 90, of Mt. Enterprise, Texas will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 8, 2026, at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dale Walker officiating. Burial will follow in the Rock Hill Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. on Thursday night at Hawthorn's. Mrs. Lily Beatrice Hamlett Whitlow was born June 25, 1935, in Osceola, Arkansas. She passed this life May 3, 2026, in Nacogdoches, Texas. Lily was born to the marriage of Tressie Phillips and William Thomes Hamlett. She was raised and schooled in Osceola, Arkansas. She met her one and only true love, Troy Truman Whitlow who would then hitchhike back to her 200 miles to marry her in 1951. Together they celebrated 72 years of marriage and eight children before he preceded her in death in 2024. Lily and Troy worked as sharecroppers; she later worked in a mobile home plant and many years as a caregiver and sitter to many. She was a member of the Minden Baptist Church, a loving homemaker to her family who loved cooking, flowers and gardening. She is also preceded in death by her parents, sons, Johnny Allen, Troy Lee, and Bobby Glen Whitlow; daughter Sandra Lummus Whitlow; siblings, Bill, Woodrow Hamlett, Irene Pickett and Pauline Hamlett.
Mrs. Whitlow is survived by her devoted sons, David Whitlow of Mt. Enterprise, Darryl Whitlow and wife Angel of Mt. Enterprise, Joseph Whitlow and wife Kristy of Mt. Enterprise, Jeffrey Whitlow and wife Suzy of Plymouth, Indianna; daughter-in-law, Denise Whitlow of L'Anse, Michigan; brother, Sam Hamlett of Paragould, Arkansas; 29 grandchildren; numerous great and great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Steven Whitlow, Mitchel Whitlow, Quin Whitlow, Garrett Whitlow, Seth Whitlow, Doc Whitlow.
