With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Patsy M. Buie of Red Springs, NC.

What remains is memory — and the gratitude of those she loved.

Patsy held deeply to the Baptist faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew her best.

What Patsy believed shaped how she loved.

August 11, 1945 – May 5, 2026

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day…"

2 Timothy 4:7-8

It is with grateful hearts that we celebrate the beautiful life of Patsy Buie, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, mentor, friend – and above all a faithful follower of her Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ.

Born Patricia Jean Maxwell on August 11, 1945, in Raeford, North Carolina, she was the youngest of 6 children born to Oscar and Isabel Blount Maxwell. Her early years were spent participating in life on the Maxwell farm, cooking family meals and going on numerous adventures with her closest brother, George, and Jack, "the wonder dog". These years instilled in her a strong work ethic, servant's heart, commitment to family and love of life.

At just 16, she was blessed to meet the love of her life, Bradley McCallum Buie, at a local dance. After a 3 year courtship, they married and shortly after moved to Raleigh, North Carolina. Their "young love" has grown and flourished for 61 years strong.

Together and by God's grace, along with their 2 children and 4 grandchildren, they have built a beautiful family that continues to grow: Bart (married to Caroline), Brad and Brooks Buie. Mary Pat Fulkerson (married to Bill), Gwendolyn and McCallum Fulkerson.

Patsy loved the Lord Jesus, loved her family, and loved others. With regards to her faith, she received Christ as Savior and Lord in the spring of 1974. From that point on, her life was lived to the glory of God in both word and action. As a homemaker, she dedicated herself to creating a beautiful, loving, and organized home.

She had an amazing way of making those in her presence feel "seen" and "heard". She was generous with her time, talents and abilities, always with an eye on where the Lord led her, and where her family needed her. Her ministry involvement was often times behind the scenes in a supporting role. She hosted countless in-home Bible studies, Care Ministry events and church socials. She was also very musical, using her talents as an alto in weekly church choir and in Christmas musicals. Her love for people was expressed in creating a beautiful, inviting environment, and in sharing the hope of the Gospel with those who came.

Patsy knew her Lord personally through study and practical application of His Word, along with prayer and praise. Even as her body began to fail, she expressed joy in the Lord, often in song and most notably her infectious smile. She was ever the "encourager" of her family, both children and grandchildren, pointing them to Jesus and praying faithfully for them. Her greatest blessing, her legacy, was to hear of her children and grandchildren living for the glory of God.

Today, we are grateful to know that Patsy's "faith has now become sight" as she has been ushered into the glorious presence of King Jesus. Her work on this earth is complete. And though we grieve, we grieve with the solid hope of seeing her beautiful smile again in that place where there is "no more dying, and no more tears".
