With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Phyllis Veronica Cielec of Parma, OH.
What you read below is one part of a life lived with quiet purpose.
Phyllis held deeply to the Catholic faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew her best.
What Phyllis believed shaped how she loved.
Phyllis V. Cielec, age 95, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 1, 2026. She was welcomed into heaven by her beloved parents, Stanley and Cecelia Cielec and her siblings; Joseph, Jessie, Emil, Doris Wojton, Richard, Bernard, Mildred Zwolinski, Lawrence, and Ralph. She is survived by her dear sister, Patricia (Thomas) Adamski. She is the aunt, great-aunt, and great-great-aunt to many nieces and nephews. Also, she lived a life rich with true friendships.
Phyllis began her working career as a bookkeeper with The Ohio Bell Telephone Company and held many positions until she retired with over 40 years of service. In retirement, she volunteered for many years as a teacher's assistant in a local elementary school. She also enjoyed many days at her neighborhood Senior Center, participating in varied activities and especially working on Word Search puzzles.
Phyllis was a very special woman of great faith and a lifetime member of St. Barbara Catholic Church. She loved family gatherings (there were many!), Polka music, and dancing.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, May 15th, 2026, in St. Barbara Catholic Church, 1505 Denison Avenue, Cleveland OH 44109, at 10:00 AM. Everyone please meet directly at Church.
In lieu of flowers, family suggest a donation be made to your favorite charity in Phyllis' memory.
