With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Richard Nolan of Leonardo, NJ.

What follows is not the whole story, but a thread of it.

What is taught through a parent's example outlasts what is taught through their words.

Richard D. Nolan, 67, passed away May 2nd, 2026 at his home in Conway, South Carolina. He was born in Sydney, NY, on December 14th, 1958. Richard served his country in the Marine Corps for 4 years, serving in the Persian Gulf, the Arctic, and beyond. He worked as an ironworker in the Local 580 of New York City for over 30 years, where he took part in the first responder rescue efforts after the September 11th attacks.

He was an avid golfer, basketball coach, and he never found a problem with a home improvement project that could slow him down. Wherever he put down roots, he became a beloved fixture of the community. From Middletown, New Jersey and Milford Pennsylvania to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, his playful mischief and devotion to helping others made him unforgettable to anyone who got to spend time with him.

He is preceded in death by his mother Marjorie Nolan, his father Richard Nolan of Leonardo, his brother Kenny Nolan, and brother-in-law, Henry DeWindt of Hazlet. He is survived by his son Philip Nolan of Brooklyn, his sisters Robin DeWindt and Ellen Nolan of Hazlet, his nephew Correy DeWindt, and his nephew Bryan DeWindt, wife Amanda, and children: Madilyn and Harper of Hazlet; his former wives Stephanie Nolan of Tinton Falls and Gloria VanDeusen of Milford, PA. He will be dearly missed as a beloved patriarch, father, brother, uncle, and so much more.

Visitation will be held Friday, May 8, 2026, 4:00 pm - 9:00 pm at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Road, Middletown.

A Funeral Mass will be offered Saturday, May 9, 2026 at 11:00 AM at St. Agnes' RC Church, 103 Center Av., Atlantic Highlands.

In lieu of flowers, we encourage those who knew and loved him to make contributions to local food pantries and animal shelters in his name. For Monmouth County, we recommend the Fulfill food bank (732-918-2600,) and Associated Humane Societies (973-824-7080.)
