With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Rickey "Rick" Lynn Reynolds of Coweta, OK.

What follows is not the whole story, but a thread of it.

The heart keeps better records than the calendar.

Rick Reynolds was born on March 10, 1951, in Coweta, Oklahoma to Carl Reynolds and Dorothy (Sadler) Reynolds. He was raised in Coweta, Oklahoma, alongside two older sisters, Jeanette and Carlee and one older brother Carroll. As a child, Rick cherished summers spent with extended family in western Oklahoma, where he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his cousins. He always found a sense of peace in the wide-open spaces of the Oklahoma Panhandle.Rick was an active participant in his school band, where he played both the French horn and drums. He also loved going to football and basketball games, always cheering on the Coweta Tigers and OU Sooners. Rick had a long time love of history and could often be found reading war stories and western books- interests that stuck with him throughout his life. He graduated from Coweta High School in 1969.Rick married his high school sweetheart, Scheryl Willhite on May 24, 1969, beginning a lifelong partnership. Together they built a family, and Rick was a proud and loving father to his daughter, Renee (Reynolds) Smith. In his younger years, Rick loved a good adventure—whether that meant heading off to concerts, riding four wheelers in the Little Sahara, or traveling to a new place in the US- he was always up for it. But nothing brought him more joy than hunting quail with some of his favorite bird dogs, a pastime that created countless memories.A dedicated provider for his family, Rick worked a variety of jobs in his early years, ranging from manufacturing to magazine and record sales with the Oklahoma News Company. His work as a salesman briefly took his young family to Coffeyville, Oklahoma, before they returned home to the Coweta area so Rick could begin a career in the aerospace industry—where he would spend the majority of his working life.Rick dedicated more than 35 years to the aerospace field, working as a respected quality control inspector for esteemed companies such as Boeing, Spirit, and Rockwell. He took great pride in his work and was widely known for his strong work ethic and keen attention to detail. Rick’s expertise and dedication earned him the opportunity to attend numerous prestigious work meetings and travel on behalf of Boeing, where his contributions played a meaningful role in the company’s success. After his retirement, he pursued interests such as reading, watching old westerns, playing solitaire/poker games and enjoying woodworking what he fondly referred to as “wood whittling.”Rick was also the beloved keeper of the popsicles, which he called “Pop Pops.” While he was always happy to share one with a visitor, his favorite popsicle moments were spent with his only grandchildren, Madison and Marla Smith -creating small, sweet memories they will cherish forever.Despite the adventures of his youth and a long, successful career, Rick’s favorite place was always home. He was happiest unwinding in his recliner in the garage, unbothered, watching a good show with a Coca Cola or Mountain Dew in hand.Rick is preceded in death by his parents, Carl Reynolds and Dorothy Reynolds and his sister, Jeanette (Ginny) Gladfelter. He is survived by his devoted wife, Scheryl Reynolds; his daughter, Renee, and son in law, Robert Smith, of Coweta, Oklahoma; his beloved granddaughters, Madison and Marla Smith, of Coweta, Oklahoma; his sister, Carlee Voss, of Coweta, Oklahoma; his brother, Carroll and wife Cindy Reynolds, of Owasso, Oklahoma; and his many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Monday evening, May 11, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Brown’s Funeral Service in Coweta, Oklahoma.
