Santos held deeply to the Catholic faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew him best.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Santos Del Toro, 55, of Lufkin, will be held Thursday, May 7, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Lufkin with Fr. Denzil Vithanage officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Lufkin.
Santos was born on December 5, 1970, in Eagle Pass, Texas, to Ismael Del Toro and the late Ana Herrera, and died Saturday, May 2, 2026, in Lufkin.
Santos developed a love for automobiles at an early age and grew up to be a successful mechanic in Lufkin. His love for vehicles was only surpassed by the love he had for his family. When he wasn't tinkering on a car, Santos could be found enjoying various outdoor activities, having a nice meal with his children, or entertaining the whimsies of his only grandchild, Liz. Santos had a profound laughter and sense of humor that left a lasting impression on those he knew and loved. His loss is immeasurable. He will be truly missed.
Santos is survived by his wife, Dalia Del Toro of Lufkin; son, Marcus Riddle of Crystal Lake; son, Tony Del Toro of Lufkin; daughter, Paloma Del Toro of Lufkin; daughter, Suzanna Del Toro of Lufkin; son, Santos Del Toro, Jr. of Lufkin; daughter, Pilar Del Toro of Lufkin; son, Ruben Del Toro of Lufkin; brother, Ramiro Del Toro and wife Maria of Frankfurt; sister, Laura Del Toro of Lufkin; brother, Mario Del Toro and wife Maria of Lufkin; granddaughter, Liz Rojo; father, Ismael Del Toro; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother; sister, Matilde Del Toro; and brothers, Ismael Del Toro II and Markus Del Toro.
Pallbearers will be Ruben Del Toro, Sergio Whitehead, David Alvarez, Rene Alanis, Ismael Del Toro III, and Mario Del Toro, Jr.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin. A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m.
