With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Sebastian Garcia of Edinburg, TX.

What follows is not the whole story, but a thread of it.

Sebastian held deeply to the Catholic faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew him best.

What Sebastian believed shaped how he loved.

The Garcia family shares with deep sorrow the passing of our beloved Sebastian Garcia, 23, on Saturday morning, May 2, 2026, at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, after a courageous 5½-year battle with cancer. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Audelia Ramirez Garcia; and his maternal grandparents, Jose Maria and Maria Inez Garcia. Sebastian is survived by his loving parents, Jorge Jr. and Veronica Garcia; his four siblings, Damian Garcia, Ian Garcia, Sophia Loren Garcia, and Ilan Sabino Garcia; his paternal grandfather, Jorge Garcia Sr.; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.Sebastian was a proud Edinburg High School graduate, Class of 2021, and a dedicated student athlete. He had a passion for collecting antiques and model cars, and when he wasn’t on the golf course, he loved spending time outdoors with his family. Above all, Sebastian loved his family deeply and was loved just as deeply in return, inspiring them each day with his strength, courage, and unwavering faith. His resilience throughout his journey touched each of them profoundly, leaving a lasting impact that will continue to guide and inspire them. He will always be remembered for his kind heart, his determination, and the joy he brought to those around him.We are immensely grateful for the love, prayers, and support so many of you have shown Sebastian and our family—especially over these past few months. Your kindness brought him comfort and strength in ways words cannot fully express. In his remaining time, Sebastian devoted himself to growing closer to God and deepening his Catholic faith.
