Her journey through life, marked by love, dedication, and a heart open to service, culminated peacefully at her home in Cumby, Texas, on May 4, 2026, surrounded by family who cherished her deeply.As the Restaurant Manager at the Blue Oyster in Florida, Shirley thrived in an environment that reflected her natural warmth and ability to bring people together. Her career was more than a job; it was a testament to her leadership and spirit, qualities that resonated in every corner of her life.Beyond her professional world, Shirley’s soul found joy in the simple, profound acts of kindness and nurturance. She loved volunteering at the food pantry, where her generosity sowed countless seeds of hope. Her kitchen was a sanctuary of flavors and love, where cooking was an art imbued with care. Gardening connected her to the earth’s rhythms, mirroring the nurturing she offered her family. Her daughter, Barbara Ingram, alongside her husband David, continues to honor Shirley’s spirit in Cumby, Texas. Shirley’s lineage blossoms with her granddaughter Jennifer Allen and her husband Kerry, also of Cumby, and her grandson Chris Williams of Lone Oak, Texas, who carry forward her values and love. The generational chain sparkles with the presence of great-grandchildren Madison Scott and her husband Joe, Autumn Allen, Tessa Allen, and Austin Thomas, as well as great-great-grandchildren Aubree, Jaxon, and Koby, each a testament to Shirley’s nurturing heart.Shirley’s siblings Jim Shannon remains near, a reminder of the bonds forged in childhood and sustained through life’s seasons. Though departed are her beloved husband John Verner, daughter Willia Cody, and siblings Ray Shannon, Louise Shannon, Vilinda Shannon, and Donald Shannon, their memories are woven deeply into the fabric of Shirley’s story, a story that will continue to be told with reverence and love.Shirley Ann Verner’s life was a glowing beacon of kindness, family devotion, and community commitment.
