With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Timothy Eugene Lindsey of Polo, MO.
These are the contours of a life that meant a great deal to many.
Timothy held deeply to the Baptist faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew him best.
A life of belief is a life of quiet conversation with something larger.
Timothy Eugene Lindsey went home to be with the Lord on May 2, 2026. He was 73 years, one month and one day old. Tim was born March 31, 1953, to Eugene Lindsey and Verna Lee (Stites) Lindsey in North Kansas City. He spent his first years in Randolph, Missouri, before his family moved to Lawson/Elmira when he was in 4 th grade. He was a 1972 graduate of Lawson High School and attended Northwest Missouri State University.
In January of 1973, he married his high school sweetheart, Sharon Kay (Ballinger) Lindsey. They had over 53 amazing years together before his passing. God blessed them with 3 sons, 2 daughters-in-love, and three grandchildren: Timothy Shane Lindsey of Kansas City, Missouri, Shaun Michael Lindsey and his wife Leslie of Liberty, Missouri, and Seth Thomas Lindsey and his wife Dawn of Maryville, Missouri. His 3 grandchildren, who called him "PeePaw," are Sarah Kay Lindsey, Natalie Renee Lindsey, and Caleb Michael Lindsey, of Liberty, Missouri. He also leaves behind his brothers, James (Vanessa) Lindsey and Dan (Lou) Lindsey, and his sister, Deborah Workman; his brother-in-laws Howard (Sherry) Ballinger and Brent Ballinger; and his uncle and aunt Don and Jimmie Lou Stites of Sallisaw, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents; Eugene "Buddy" and Verna Lee Lindsey, his parents-in-law Howard "Bud" and Dora Louise "Peggy" Ballinger; his brothers-in-law Larry Workman and Danny Ballinger; and his sister-in-law Lisa Ballinger.
Tim retired after 31 years at General Motors in 2006. He held many different jobs there, including a brief time as a supervisor. It was brief because he missed being a Union man. While at General Motors he received awards for improvement suggestions and even invented a bent screwdriver to help with assembly.
During his life, he wore many hats. He was a carpenter, a t-ball coach, a scout leader, an auxiliary police officer, a real estate agent, a Basketmaker, president of the Elmira Cemetery Association, taxidermist, flag football coach, and Santa's helper. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and gardener. In his most recent venture, he had just begun planting peanuts earlier on the day of his passing. He was a lifetime member of the Buck Knives Collector Club, serving as a board member, youth leader and Club President.
Tim was a Christian and was baptized in Crooked River as a boy. He was active in the Missouri Baptist Disaster Relief organization. He served in Mud Out, Chainsaw, Mess Feeding and Childcare. His favorite was Childcare. He and Sharon participated in this together and attended many conventions and meetings. Together, they traveled to Texas after Hurricane Harvey, which left a lasting impression on them both.
He was active in the Elmira Baptist Church and when they moved to Polo, he joined the First Baptist Church in Polo. He served Christ through the Brotherhood, RA's, Awana and Vacation Bible School. The children at church called him "Mr. Tim" and they often teased each other over the color pink, and Mr. Tim saying "Pink stinks!".
He not only leaves behind his immediate family, but also many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Tim was one of those people who never met a stranger. He never wanted anyone to mourn his passing, but to celebrate his Homecoming instead, where he waits for us all to join him.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Missouri Baptist Disaster Relief or the First Baptist Church of Polo in care of the funeral home. A service celebrating Tim's life will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 9, 2026, at First Baptist Church of Polo. The family will hold visitation at the church and will receive friends during the first hour prior to the service. Burial at the Elmira Cemetery, Elmira, MO will follow the service. Arrangements entrusted to the care and direction of Stith Funeral Home in Polo. (660) 354-2214. Online guestbook at www.stithfamilyfunerals.com
