With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Walter P. Niemann Jr. of Memorial Hospital, IN.

Walter P. Niemann Jr., 80 passed away Thursday, April 30, 2026 in Memorial Hospital.

Wally was born on December 27, 1945 in South Bend to Walter and Louise (Gruber) Niemann Sr. They preceded him in death along with two brothers Richard "Dick" Niemann and William "Bill" Niemann, and a brother-in-law Tom Hinkle.

Surviving are two sisters Sandra Hinkle and Mary (Tim) Weber, two sisters-in-law Susan Niemann and Donna Niemann and numerous nieces and nephews.

Wally taught elementary education in the Mishawaka Public School System for 37 years. He enjoyed the outdoors, loved the lake life and fishing and cheering for the Cleveland Browns. Wally enjoyed entertaining family and many friends at the lake and everyone was always welcomed. He was a top notch jokester and loved pranking anyone at any opportune time. He had a close relationship with some of his students and continued to stay in contact with them as they became adults. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

Cremation has taken place. No services are scheduled at this time. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital
